Alys-on Wonderland?

Okay friends. This was a podcast me and my funky crew of friends did for a class. We would have used it to teach the effects of illicit drugs and what could happen. It came out funny but it essentially covered the basics of what we wanted to impart to students. Feel free to use it if you an find something to use it for. Personally, I think it was aawweesome sauce!!!! Check it out.

Grant Proposal
Topic: Exploring the Universe

My name is Adero Forsythe and I am a teacher for an Earth Science class at Hillcrest High School. Teaching Earth Science in a world filled with IPads, the internet and YouTube is not an easy thing to do. Students are more interested in Facebook and the gizmo and gadget world. I admit that Earth Science can be a dry topic sometimes and to get the students motivated, it would help to have some gizmo and gadget of our own to facilitate this. What would be needed would be six computers where students can work in groups on simulation with 3D models. Having the resource to take at least one field trip per semester would be beneficial. Taking a field trip to let’s say an observatory would bring to life all the topics we talk about in Astronomy and it will no longer be abstract on a piece of paper.  The proposed budget for this endeavor is $20,000 dollars. This will cover the six computers along with accessory equipment such as software and maintenance, and it will also cover field trip for the students for at least two years academia. The field trips would be to the Rutherford Observatory, mining sites, or even sites that do frapping, which is a modern concern for today’s generation. Having a close up look at the process and experience these things first hand will be beneficial. My students should improve in higher order thinking and be able to better write about a topic since they witness these events first hand. Having them act like reporters to me will also be another way to judge how their minds work, and what they pay attention to. I expect them to ask better questions in class instead of the basic run of the mills and whys. I want to hear question like what would happen if….. and offer solutions to the problems that they can identify. If would be greatly beneficial to my classroom and school for you to consider my proposal.  If more information is required, my contact information is available below.

Sincerely,

Adero Forsythe
